The Papal State is the most offensive civilization of the game, though it also has the weakest defense. Recommended for an experienced and/or active player that likes to go on the offensive.

Defense: 4th
Anti-Cavalry Defense: 4th
Anti-Infantry Defense: 3rd

The Mongols are the second best civilization when it comes to offensive power, and third when it comes to defense. A bit more balanced than the Papal State, Mongols are another civilization that should probably be chosen by active players.

Anti-Cavalry Defense: 3rd
Anti-Infantry Defense: 4th

The Hanseatic League has the best defense of the game, but it's last when it comes to offensive power. With a low attack, but very good defense, the Hanseatic League has the best anti-cavalry defense of the game. A good choice for players that prefer a defensive strategy or don't have as much time to play.

Valachia is a defensive civilization that also has some offensive power to it. It has the best anti-infantry troops of the game. Suitable for defensive players that want a bit of offensive power as well.
